The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways provided an updated inventory of port infrastructure and initiatives across India, including details for Andhra Pradesh. The list includes 12 operational major ports under central administration, two new ports notified as major ports and 68 operational other than major ports under state administration. The two new ports are Vadhavan Port in Maharashtra and Galathea Bay Port in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

In Andhra Pradesh four ports are reported to be under construction: Mulapeta Port, formerly Bhavanapadu, in Srikakulam district; Machilipatnam Port in Krishna district; Ramayapatnam Port in SPSR Nellore district; and Kakinada SEZ Port in Kakinada district. The Government has pursued modernisation through mechanisation of berths and terminals, digitalisation and logistics integration, construction of new berths and capital dredging to increase drafts for larger vessels. Connectivity improvements include development of road, rail and inland waterways links alongside port works.

The Ministry described operational reforms to reduce vessel turnaround time, including elimination of manual forms, facilitation of direct port delivery and entry, installation of container scanners, e-delivery of orders and payments, RFID gate automation and implementation of the Maritime Single Window, SagarSetu two point zero. The Sagarmala scheme was cited as the principal funding and delivery framework, providing assistance under five pillars: Port Modernisation, Port Connectivity, Port-Led Industrialisation, Coastal Community Development and Coastal Shipping and Inland Water Transport. Environmental and tourism initiatives mentioned include the HaritSagar green port guidelines, the Green Tug Transition Programme to promote low-emission harbour tugs and the Cruise Bharat Mission for cruise tourism.

Details of funds allocated, sanctioned and released under the Port Modernisation pillar are reported in Annexure three, with monetary values converted to million (mn) for clarity; one crore equals ten million. For example, the improvement of Kakinada Anchorage infrastructure shows a project cost of Rs 733.4 mn, assistance sanctioned of Rs 366.7 mn and funds released of Rs 366.7 mn.
