DHL Express will raise shipment charges in India by 8.9 per cent from January 1, 2027, as part of its annual price revision. The global logistics company announced the adjustment in Mumbai on Saturday, saying the revised rates would apply to customers sending shipments through its Indian operations.

DHL Express operates in more than 220 countries and territories, and said its costs are influenced by conditions in individual markets and changes across its international network. RS Subramanian, senior vice-president, South Asia, said the annual adjustment would help the company maintain the service and reliability expected by customers while strengthening its global operations.

Businesses that regularly use international express shipping will need to account for the revised rates in their logistics budgets. DHL Express has not provided a shipment-by-shipment breakdown, so the amount paid by individual customers will vary according to the applicable service and rate.

The company said the adjustment reflected higher operating costs linked to inflation, currency movements and developments in the express delivery industry. It also cited energy expenses, rising administrative costs, new customs procedures, enhanced security measures and additional regulatory requirements as factors affecting the cost of moving shipments across borders.

DHL Express added that labour market pressures in several countries had pushed operating expenses higher. The company plans to continue investing in its international network, digital tools, security infrastructure and sustainable logistics services as international trade and supply chains become more complex.

The logistics company reviews its prices annually to reflect changing costs. The increase will affect customers using DHL Express services in India from the start of 2027, although the final charge will depend on shipment-specific details and the service selected.
