Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has logged a new operational milestone, with IOCL’s LPG terminal handling 15 LPG tankers and 2,70,551 metric tonne of cargo as of November 27. This surpasses the previous record of 14 tankers set in March 2024. The port expects to touch 17 tankers by the end of the month, marking a strong close to November.

Announcing the achievement, the authority said on X that the new benchmark reflects the terminal’s rising efficiency and improved handling capacity. The milestone adds to a series of records set by the port in recent days, strengthening its performance across cargo categories.

In a separate update, DPA reported a 24-hour discharge record of 15,687 cubic metres of pine logs on the vessel MV TOMINI SOLANO. The entire operation was carried out using electric vehicle loaders, highlighting the port’s accelerating shift towards green and energy-efficient cargo handling. The authority said the feat demonstrated “precision planning, seamless coordination and outstanding on-ground performance,” acknowledging the efforts of Synergy and Swayam Shipping teams. A total of 23,455.81 JCBM was handled at Berth CJ-14, with an average discharge rate of about 11,546 JCBM per day, or approximately 481 JCBM per hour.

Earlier this week, DPA Kandla became the fastest major port in the country to cross the 100 million tonne cargo mark in FY 2025–26. The milestone reflects its robust capabilities across liquid, dry bulk, break-bulk and container segments, and supports the objectives of the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision aimed at boosting trade and industrial activity along India’s western coast.

Congratulating the team, Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, said the port’s record-setting performance strengthens India’s maritime competitiveness and enhances trade connectivity across Gujarat and the northern hinterland.
