Government Approves Road Over Bridge For Tuna-Tekra Port Link
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has sanctioned the project at Rs 4,720 million (mn) to provide dedicated access for port traffic and support operational expansion.
The works comprise viaduct structures, a bridge over a creek and allied civil works together with arrangements for maintenance over a period of 10 years to ensure long term operational efficiency and durability.
The road over bridge is designed as the primary connectivity artery for the upcoming mega container terminal with a capacity of two point one nine million (mn) twenty foot equivalent units (TEU) and the multipurpose cargo berth with a capacity of 18.33 mn t per annum.
Execution will be synchronised with the container terminal commissioning, which is currently at 45 per cent physical progress, to ensure timely readiness of supporting infrastructure.
Authorities expect the ROB to reduce logistics turnaround time, ease rail road bottlenecks and improve overall supply chain efficiency, and officials say the project aligns with Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 and will contribute to port led development objectives.
