IOS Sagar Departs Chattogram After Successful Port Call
During the visit the commanding officer of IOS Sagar called on senior Bangladesh Navy officials, including Commander BN Fleet and Commander Chattogram Naval Area, to further strengthen bilateral maritime cooperation and regional maritime objectives. A deck reception onboard brought together senior leadership of the Bangladesh Navy and the visiting crew attended a reception hosted by the BN. Professional discussions focused on common operational priorities and avenues for enhanced coordination at sea.
Professional interactions during the port call included cross-deck visits and exchanges of best practices between personnel of both navies, while the crew visited the Bangladesh Naval Academy and engaged with officer cadets and faculty members. Friendly sporting activities and cultural engagements were staged to enhance mutual understanding and camaraderie. Those activities were intended to consolidate interpersonal ties and improve mutual readiness for cooperative operations.
On departure from Chattogram IOS Sagar conducted a passage exercise with BNS Protoy and Bangladesh Navy air assets that comprised coordinated maritime drills and advanced surface manoeuvres aimed at enhancing interoperability and operational cooperation. The visit and the subsequent exercise underlined the shared commitment of India and Bangladesh to peace, stability and security in the Indian Ocean region. With personnel from 16 partner nations embarked, IOS Sagar will continue its operational deployment towards Colombo, Sri Lanka.
