Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) has completed the acquisition of 63,541,233 equity shares in L&T Sapura Shipping Private Limited from its joint venture partner, Sapura Nautical Power Pte Ltd, marking a significant corporate development for the group.

Following the transaction, L&T now holds 100 per cent of the share capital in L&T Sapura Shipping Private Limited, which has consequently transitioned from a joint venture to a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro Limited. The acquisition follows the company’s earlier disclosure to stock exchanges on January 12, 2026.

Although financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, the move is expected to provide L&T with full strategic and operational control over the marine and shipping business. Full ownership will enable closer integration of L&T Sapura Shipping’s operations with L&T’s core infrastructure and energy portfolios, potentially enhancing project execution capabilities and operational synergies.

The acquisition is aligned with L&T’s broader strategy of strengthening control over strategic assets and streamlining its organisational structure. By consolidating its stake in L&T Sapura Shipping, the company is positioned to optimise decision-making processes and enhance its ability to capitalise on opportunities in marine, offshore and energy-related projects.
