Maharashtra plans Rs.270 billion shipbuilding cluster at Dighi Port

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders will invest around `270 billion to develop a greenfield shipbuilding cluster at Dighi Port in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. The project is expected to create nearly 90,000 jobs and establish annual shipbuilding capacity of at least 2 million gross tonnes. Developed through National Shipbuilding and Heavy Industries Park Maharashtra, the cluster will support construction of large commercial vessels. The initiative is intended to expand Maharashtra’s maritime infrastructure and strengthen India’s domestic shipbuilding and heavy-industry ecosystem over time.
