Smt. Anu Garg, IAS, Hon'ble Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha, visited Paradip Port Authority (PPA) to review operations and expansion plans. She was received by P. L. Haranadh, Chairman of the PPA, at the wet basin and accorded a ceremonial guard of honour by the CISF unit. The visit included a launch ride to check berth readiness and vessel traffic management systems. Senior officials joined deliberations on operational priorities.

Paradip Port achieved record cargo handling of 150.41 million tonnes (mn t) in FY 2024–25, ranking as India's number one major port. The port has a rated capacity of 289 million tonnes per annum (mn t per annum) and reported a provisional net surplus of Rs 18.6 bn, while maintaining industry leading productivity. The authority highlighted continued investment to sustain benchmarks and to retain the lowest vessel and cargo charges among major ports.

The Chief Secretary outlined Odisha's roadmap targeting USD 500 bn by 2036 and USD 1.5 tn by 2047 and emphasised the need for double digit growth led by exports, shipbuilding and port led development. She set out the Paradip Port 2.0 vision, including capacity expansion beyond 500 million tonnes per annum, Western Dock deepening and a dedicated green hydrogen berth. Discussions covered the proposed 150 million tonnes per annum Bahuda Port and a 1.2 mn gross tonnage shipbuilding and repair cluster north of the Mahanadi.

Those projects are planned through a Special Purpose Vehicle between the Government of Odisha and the Paradip Port Authority to strengthen the state's maritime economy and industrial ecosystems. Integrated development was linked to PCPIR, the Plastic Park, AMNS and the Green Hydrogen hub alongside industrial townships, housing, tourism infrastructure and urban amenities supported by planned land use and law and order. The visit reaffirmed commitment to transform Paradip into a globally competitive maritime gateway. District Collector J. Sonal, Superintendent of Police Ankit Kumar Verma and Deputy Chairman T. Venu Gopal attended the deliberations.
