Paradip Port to ink Rs 1.5 trillion MoUs at India Maritime Week
Hosted by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the event will take place in Mumbai from 27 to 31 October. Touted as the world’s largest maritime conclave, IMW will bring together over 100 maritime nations, 200 global experts, and 500 leading maritime industries, providing a premier platform for investment, innovation, and international collaboration.
Paradip emerges as green hydrogen hub
Paradip Port was recently designated as a Green Hydrogen Hub, joining Tuticorin and Kandla as one of India’s three such ports. The port is expected to play a key role in supporting India’s clean energy transition and driving sustainable maritime growth.
The Government of Odisha will also participate in IMW, highlighting the state’s port-led development potential through a dedicated session. The state has already signed MoUs with the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) for major projects, including the Bahuda Port development and a shipbuilding centre in Kendrapara district — both expected to generate significant employment and boost regional economic activity.
Cruise terminal and tourism boost
During IMW 2025, Odisha is also expected to sign an MoU to develop a cruise terminal in Puri, aimed at enhancing maritime tourism. The project’s first phase will focus on Puri, while the second phase will extend the terminal to Paradip within two to three years.
In the lead-up to the conclave, Paradip Port has launched several public outreach campaigns — including sand art displays, advertisements, and social media initiatives coinciding with Diwali celebrations — to promote maritime awareness.
These combined efforts reflect the commitment of the Government of Odisha, Paradip Port, and the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways to advance sustainable growth, employment generation, and India’s maritime transformation.
