Port infrastructure may get Rs 2 trillion upgrade

India is planning a Rs 2 trillion upgrade to its port infrastructure as part of a major push to alleviate logistics bottlenecks. The plan has identified up to 298 projects, including road and rail connectivity to ports. The Empowered Group of Secretaries, led by cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba, has identified critical infrastructure gaps in port connectivity that will be addressed on a priority basis, with monthly reviews.

According to one of the officials briefed on the discussions, the goal is to complete these projects as soon as possible.
