According to a statement released on Tuesday, the Port of Corpus Christi, Texas, reported that in the second quarter of 2024, it handled 50.1 million tons of goods through the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, marking a 1.7% increase compared to the same period last year. The port, known for its oil refineries and shipping facilities, has emerged as a significant hub for crude oil exports.

The statement noted that crude oil tonnage saw a 4.8% rise from Q2 2023 to reach 32.6 million tons in Q2 2024. Additionally, break bulk cargoes and agricultural cargoes surged by 52% and 39.8%, respectively, during this period.

In the first half of 2024, the Port of Corpus Christi handled a total of 99.5 million tons, showing a slight increase from the corresponding period in 2023.
