RoDTEP Benefits Restored for SEZ, EOU, AA Exports

The Government of India has reinstated Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) benefits for Advance Authorisation (AA) holders, Export-Oriented Units (EOUs), and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) units. These benefits will apply to all eligible exports made on or after 1 June 2025, aiming to reinforce India's export competitiveness and ensure parity across sectors.
Previously discontinued from 5 February 2025, the reinstatement aligns with the government’s long-term vision to build a robust and compliant trade ecosystem. The RoDTEP scheme, operational since 1 January 2021, reimburses exporters for embedded duties, taxes, and levies not refunded through any other mechanism. It adheres to WTO guidelines and is managed through a digitised platform for transparency and efficient delivery.
By 31 March 2025, total disbursements under RoDTEP exceeded Rs 579.8 billion, reflecting its importance in sustaining India’s merchandise exports. For FY 2025–26, the government has allocated Rs 182.3 billion, covering 10,780 HS lines for Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) exports and 10,795 HS lines for AA/EOU/SEZ exports.
This restoration affirms the Centre’s continued support for exporters by broadening sectoral coverage and ensuring a level playing field. It also bolsters India’s ambition to expand global market share by incentivising compliance and competitiveness in international trade.
