Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI) has signed an agreement with Varex Imaging Corporation to manufacture advanced cargo and vehicle inspection systems in India. Headquartered in Salt Lake City, USA, Varex Imaging is a global leader in linear accelerators and imaging technologies.

Under the partnership, SDHI will exclusively produce Varex’s high-energy imaging systems at its manufacturing facility in Pipavav, Gujarat. These systems are designed for the comprehensive inspection of cargo at land and seaports, catering to the increasing demand for robust security infrastructure across India.

This collaboration not only boosts domestic production capabilities but also aligns with the Government’s Make in India initiative. By localising the manufacture of critical security equipment, the partnership aims to deliver world-class imaging solutions tailored for Indian agencies.

SDHI, a prominent name in shipbuilding and heavy fabrication, operates India’s largest dry dock and has a fabrication capacity of 144,000 tonnes per annum. This industrial scale positions SDHI well to support India’s maritime and security goals.
