BEL And RRP Group Sign Strategic MoU For Defence Technologies

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and RRP Electronics Limited and RRP Defense Limited of the RRP Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pursue collaboration in semiconductors, electro-optics and unmanned systems. The agreement, announced in Bengaluru on 24 March 2026, sets out a framework for joint identification, design and development of technologies for defence and strategic applications. The partnership is framed as reinforcing national objectives of indigenisation and capability acceleration.

BEL brings decades of experience in developing advanced electronics and mission-critical systems, while RRP Electronics Limited contributes semiconductor manufacturing expertise and RRP Defense Limited offers capabilities in electro-optical systems and unmanned aerial platforms. The collaboration will focus on high-precision electro-optical systems such as surveillance equipment and weapon sights, semiconductor devices and next-generation unmanned solutions. The parties envisage that combining complementary strengths will accelerate delivery of indigenous, technologically advanced solutions.

The MoU is also expected to unlock export opportunities in alignment with the Ministry of Defence export promotion policies and to support strategic self-reliance. Joint work will include research and development, prototyping and production planning aimed at high quality and reliable systems suitable for both national and global requirements. The collaboration is positioned to pioneer technological innovations that strengthen India’s strategic capabilities.

The MoU was exchanged between the general manager for strategic planning at BEL and the founder and chairman of the RRP Group in the presence of the chairman and managing director and other senior BEL officials and RRP executives. Company statements indicated intent to accelerate the development of indigenous semiconductor packaging, thermal imaging and autonomous aerial systems while supporting national defence objectives. BEL is identified as a Navratna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, and RRP Group is described as an integrated technology company specialising in semiconductor packaging, electro-optics and autonomous aerial systems.
