DAC Approves Capital Acquisitions Worth Over Rs 540 Bn
Key Approvals for the Armed Forces Indian Army: Procurement of 1,350 HP engines to upgrade the existing 1,000 HP engines of T-90 tanks, enhancing battlefield mobility, particularly in high-altitude terrains.
Indian Navy: Procurement of Varunastra Torpedoes (Combat)—an indigenously developed, ship-launched anti-submarine torpedo by the Naval Science & Technological Laboratory—boosting the Navy’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities.
Indian Air Force: Procurement of Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) Aircraft Systems, which act as force multipliers, significantly enhancing battlefield awareness and combat potential across all weapon systems.
Accelerating Defence Procurements As part of the Ministry of Defence’s initiative to celebrate 2025 as the ‘Year of Reforms’, the DAC has also approved new guidelines aimed at reducing procurement timelines, making the capital acquisition process faster, more efficient, and effective.
This strategic boost to India’s defence capabilities aligns with the government’s commitment to self-reliance and modernisation, ensuring the armed forces remain combat-ready for future challenges.
