The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for 10 capital acquisition proposals totalling approximately Rs 1.05 trillion, all through indigenous sourcing. This key decision, taken on 3 July 2025, is aimed at strengthening India’s defence self-reliance and operational readiness.

Among the cleared acquisitions are Armoured Recovery Vehicles (ARVs), an Electronic Warfare System, a Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) system, and an Integrated Common Inventory Management System for the Tri-Services. These additions are expected to enhance mobility, air defence capabilities, and supply chain efficiency across the armed forces.

Further AoNs were granted for Moored Mines, Mine Counter Measure Vessels, Super Rapid Gun Mounts, and Submersible Autonomous Vessels. These platforms will improve maritime defence and reduce risks to naval and merchant vessels.

All proposals have been approved under the Buy (Indian – Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category, underlining the government’s commitment to indigenous defence production and innovation.
