Indian Navy to Hold Multi-Speciality Medical Camp in Lakshadweep
The camp will be inaugurated by Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, and forms part of the Navy’s continued efforts to support and augment healthcare services in the island territory. Over the years, similar camps have delivered primary care and dental services across Lakshadweep, with the current initiative upgraded to a multi-speciality format in response to growing healthcare needs and strong community participation.
Designed to complement the existing government healthcare infrastructure, the camp will focus on early diagnosis, timely intervention and patient-centric care for common and chronic conditions. Medical services will be delivered across Agatti, Kavaratti, Androth, Amini and Minicoy islands by a joint team of specialists from the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.
Consultations will cover basic specialties, dental care and super-specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, neurology and gastroenterology. In addition to outpatient care, surgical teams will undertake cataract and select general surgeries in coordination with local health authorities, alongside preventive healthcare awareness and follow-up guidance.
The initiative continues the Indian Navy’s long-standing tradition of humanitarian assistance and community support, and is expected to benefit a large number of residents while strengthening trust and goodwill with the people of Lakshadweep.
