The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Savitri, an Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) of the Indian Navy, has arrived at Port Beira, Mozambique, as part of its ongoing deployment in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). The vessel was accorded a ceremonial welcome by personnel of the Mozambique Navy, reflecting the long-standing maritime partnership and historic friendship between the two nations.

During the visit, personnel from both navies will conduct joint training sessions and professional exchanges aimed at improving interoperability and operational cooperation for future joint missions. The activities include navigational training, Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance discussions, and hands-on exercises in Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) operations, damage control, and firefighting drills.

As part of its community outreach, INS Savitri will open its decks to visitors, showcasing the operational capabilities and rich maritime heritage of the Indian Navy. Additionally, a medical camp will be organised to provide healthcare support to the local community, strengthening bonds of friendship and goodwill.

The visit will conclude with joint Yoga sessions and friendly Futsal matches, fostering camaraderie and team spirit between the two naval forces.

This port call further reaffirms the Indian Navy’s role as a reliable and preferred security partner in the Indian Ocean Region, reinforcing its commitment to promoting regional stability, capacity building, and maritime cooperation with partner nations.
