Tembo Lists on BSE, Expands Defence Manufacturing Plans

Tembo Global Industries has listed its equity shares on the Main Board of BSE while expanding its focus on defence manufacturing and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies alongside its existing engineering and industrial businesses.

Through its subsidiary, Tembo Classic Engineering, the company is developing manufacturing capabilities in small arms and ammunition. Its defence facility in Amravati, Maharashtra, is under development, with commercial production targeted for Q1 FY2028. The subsidiary has obtained government licences for ammunition and small-arms manufacturing.

The company is collaborating with Belgium-based Lachaussee SA to establish an ammunition production line in India. The proposed project, valued at approximately €50 million, is expected to produce around 100 million rounds annually, subject to agreed terms and implementation plans. Separately, Tembo has entered into a technology partnership with a European partner that includes a 100 per cent production buyback arrangement.

Through JR UAV, a joint venture with international partners, the group is pursuing specialised UAV component manufacturing opportunities. It is also exploring a potential collaboration with a defence public-sector undertaking to develop indigenous defence products, following the signing of a non-disclosure agreement.

Sanjay J. Patel, Managing Director, Tembo Global Industries, said: “The listing on the Main Board of BSE marks an important milestone in Tembo Global Industries' growth journey. Alongside our established engineering businesses, we are strengthening our focus on defence manufacturing, particularly small arms and ammunition, while expanding our presence in the emerging drone and UAV technology ecosystem.”

The company said these initiatives support domestic manufacturing and technology development under India’s Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat programmes, while expanding its opportunities in domestic and international defence markets.
