Agartala Smart City Projects Worth Rs 8.44 Billion Progressing

Agartala Smart City Limited is currently executing projects worth over Rs 8.44 billion and has set a target to complete storm water drain and road works before Durga Puja this year.
According to Chief Executive Officer Dr Shailesh, the organisation has taken up 65 projects, all of which have been completed. Among the major works, the city addressed long-standing problems of waterlogging and flooding. To resolve this, 24 projects worth Rs 646 million were implemented, which included the installation of six new flood pumps. Storm water drains were also redesigned to ensure easier cleaning.
For maintenance, super sucker and desilting machines were procured and handed to the Agartala Municipal Corporation, which carries out annual cleaning. To guarantee uninterrupted pumping during rains and storms, double feeder power supply systems were installed in all flood pump stations, along with six diesel-driven self-priming high-power pumps. With round-the-clock monitoring through CCTV at the Integrated Command Control Centre, Agartala has become one of the few Indian cities to remain free from waterlogging even during heavy rainfall.
Dr Shailesh further noted that the Tripura government has entrusted Agartala Smart City Limited with additional projects worth Rs 8.44 billion under various schemes. Under the ADB project, 26 km of smart roads are being developed across 18 routes, while five sewage treatment plants are under construction to treat drainage water. The Hoara River Development Project has achieved 80 per cent completion. In total, 23 km of road and 46 km of drains are under construction, with 31 km of drains already completed. The remaining storm water drain and road work are expected to be finished before Durga Puja.
