Amritsar authorities have begun restoring the Smart City CCTV surveillance network, with online traffic challaning expected to resume once the system is fully operational. The move is aimed at strengthening traffic enforcement and urban monitoring across key city locations.
The CCTV network forms an important part of the Smart City command and control infrastructure, supporting road safety, traffic regulation and public security. Officials indicated that repair and reactivation work is underway to bring cameras and connected systems back online.
Once restored, the online challaning mechanism will enable automated detection of traffic violations and faster enforcement. The revival is expected to improve compliance, streamline monitoring and enhance smart urban governance in Amritsar.
