The state government of Tirupati has granted approval for the construction of a multi-level car parking complex in the city. This project is part of the Area Based Development (ABD) initiatives under the Tirupati Smart City Project. The proposed complex will consist of a multi-level car parking facility along with a multiplex, spanning a total of seven upper floors and a basement. The estimated cost for this project is Rs 500 million.
According to Y Srilakshmi, the special chief secretary, this undertaking will bring about a significant transformation in Tirupati. It will alleviate the challenges faced by vehicle users and local authorities in managing the substantial influx of vehicles into the city. Srilakshmi emphasised the strategic location of the project, which is adjacent to the Tirupati railway station and the Vishnu Nivasam pilgrim amenity centre. This central position ensures high visibility and excellent connectivity, making it an ideal area for parking facilities.
Srilakshmi further mentioned that numerous developmental projects have been lined up for Tirupati, including several major infrastructure ventures. Haritha, the municipal commissioner of Tirupati, stated that the parking complex has been designed as a revenue-generating initiative. The current site area spans 3,494 square meters and is owned by the municipal corporation. The building itself will have a built-up area of 163,515 square feet. Haritha confirmed that the tenders have been finalised, and construction will commence shortly. Local legislator Bhumana Karunakar Reddy expressed gratitude to the chief minister for approving the project, recognising its significance for the city.
