Jharkhand CM lays foundation of private medical college; more to come

Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren laid the foundation stone for the state?s third private medical college in Ranchi Smart City. At the foundation laying ceremony for Gautam Medical College and Hospital, Soren emphasised that numerous medical colleges and hospitals will soon be established in the state through private and public-private partnership (PPP) modes.

He highlighted that enhancing the state's health services is a top priority for the government, with continuous efforts being made to improve health infrastructure. Soren stated that the new private medical college would not only provide better health facilities but also steer the state towards further development. The state government is committed to fully supporting investments in various sectors, including health.

Soren assured that Jharkhand residents will no longer need to travel to other states for minor treatments, as the government is striving to ensure quality healthcare within the state. He acknowledged the urgent need for more medical colleges and hospitals in Jharkhand, noting that the current number is insufficient compared to national standards and that there is a significant shortage of doctors.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that more medical colleges and hospitals would open soon in private or PPP modes, addressing the doctor shortage and benefiting the local population. He also appealed to private medical colleges to extend their medical facilities to rural areas, so that villagers do not have to travel to cities or other states for medical care.
