LMC Approves Rs 60 Mn For Restoration Of Chhota Imambara’s Gates

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has sanctioned Rs 60 million for the restoration of three gates of the Chhota Imambara under the Smart City Project, in compliance with directions from the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court on a writ petition filed by Syed Mohammad Haider Rizvi.

On 7 January, the High Court instructed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to present a detailed repair plan within two weeks and directed the district administration to remove encroachments around the gates. During the proceedings, the ASI submitted an affidavit estimating the restoration cost at Rs 61.7 million and confirmed that the INTACH Conservation Institute had been tasked with the restoration under the Smart City initiative.
