Smart city projects to give Srinagar significant facelift: Arun Mehta

Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, Srinagar took a quick tour of the city. He conducted on-site assessments of various development projects undertaken by Smart City and other executing agencies throughout the city and set completion dates for each. The Divisional Commissioner for Kashmir, the Deputy Commissioner for Srinagar, the Commissioner for SMC, the VC, the LCMA, and numerous other important police and civil administration officials were there with the Chief Secretary.

By mid-April of this year the city will have improved he observed. With the completion of these projects, which are now in various phases of execution, he claimed that the city's outlook would completely transform. He continued by saying that these improvements would give the city a significant facelift and will increase its appeal to the local residents and the visitors.

The Chief Secretary travelled to various Smart City Mission project locations. He evaluated how each project was coming along and gave out many instructions to help them be finished quickly. In light of the impending tourism period, he emphasised the importance of timely completion of all these tasks. The Chief Secretary ordered the officers to finish the work by April 15 while assessing the Jhelum River front development on-site. He commanded them to start immediately building the pathway, including its finishing, a bike lane, green areas, landscaping, and the burying of electrical lines, among other things. The project will cost Rs 325 million to complete.
