Union housing ministry lauds Coimbatore smart city project

The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry commended the city corporation for the projects it carried out as part of the smart city objective.

Recently, the Union government dispatched a media group from New Delhi to promote the city corporation's smart city initiatives throughout the rest of the nation. The housing and urban affairs ministry has since tweeted the media outlets' pieces in praise of the local government.

The building of model roadways, lakefront promenades, the 11-meter-tall media tree at Race Course, and the Thiruvalluvar statue at Kurichi Lake employing Tamil alphabets have all received praise from the ministry.

A 25-foot-tall steel statue of the renowned Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar has been erected next to Kurichikulam Lake as part of the smart cities program. In India, it is a unique statue that incorporates more than 3,000 alphabets. The ministry tweeted its appreciation for the statue, describing it as "an exceptional tribute to the city's rich heritage and intellectual legacy."
