The Uttar Pradesh government's recent budget allocation of over Rs 250 billion for urban development reflects a significant investment in improving infrastructure and quality of life across the state. The funds have been earmarked for a variety of projects, with Rs 70 billion dedicated to state-level schemes and over Rs 110 billion for centrally sponsored schemes. The allocation also includes more than Rs 60 billion for the State Urban Development Authority (SUDA). Key projects under the state-level schemes include Rs 1 billion for stormwater drainage, Rs 8 billion for the CM Grids and CM City Creation Scheme, Rs 6 billion for sewerage and drainage systems, and Rs 4.50 billion for the Kanha Gaushala and Destitute Animal Shelter Scheme.

Additionally, Rs 4 billion has been allocated for the State Smart City Mission, while Rs 5 billion will go towards the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Urban Development Scheme. The budget also prioritizes drinking water projects with an allocation of Rs 2.75 billion, along with Rs 2 billion for Model Nagar Panchayats and Rs 1.45 billion for Smart Nagar Palikas. Other important initiatives include funding for urban lakes, ponds, parks, and cremation grounds. Under central government schemes, the state will receive Rs 24.21 billion for Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 and Rs 41 billion for AMRUT 2.0. A major chunk of the Rs 66.59 billion allocated to SUDA will be utilized for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), with Rs 60.66 billion dedicated to housing projects.

Furthermore, Rs 1.50 billion will be invested under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) to support self-help groups, establish shelters, and provide training. Additionally, Rs 500 million has been earmarked for road development in Ayodhya, Mathura, and Varanasi. This comprehensive allocation aims to modernize urban infrastructure, improve living conditions, and promote sustainability across the state.
