DP World Launches Hyderabad’s First Reefer Rail Freight Service to Nhava Sheva

DP World, in collaboration with Ocean Network Express (ONE), has launched Hyderabad’s first dedicated reefer rail freight service from Thimmapur to Nhava Sheva (JNPA), offering a reliable and efficient logistics solution for the region’s pharmaceutical exporters.

The weekly service consolidates up to 43 forty-foot containers in a single train, with four scheduled departures each month, shifting more than 172 containers from road to rail. The service ensures vessel connectivity, maintains stable temperatures using DP World’s proprietary powerpacks, and reduces road congestion by removing 43 trucks per day.

Adhendru Jain, Vice President – Rail and Inland Terminals, DP World Subcontinent, said: “This reefer rail freight service provides Hyderabad’s pharmaceutical exporters with a secure, integrated cold chain, assured vessel connectivity, and a sustainable alternative to road transport.”

Masahiro Sakikubo, Managing Director, Ocean Network Express India, added: “Our collaboration with DP World offers exporters a dependable, direct rail–sea link with fixed cut-offs and schedules, reducing risks of delays and strengthening India’s global trade position.”

The service aligns with Telangana’s multimodal logistics initiatives and is expected to cut carbon emissions by up to 70 per cent compared to road transport. DP World’s extensive network, comprising eight inland rail terminals, 100+ container rakes, and integrated digital monitoring, positions it to support efficient refrigerated cargo movement between Hyderabad and Nhava Sheva.
