Gateway Distriparks Runs First Double-Stack Train from MMLP Ankleshwar

Gateway Distriparks (GDL) has completed its first double-stack train service from the Multimodal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Ankleshwar to the Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Garhi. The milestone service, which operated on October 15, 2025, carried a mix of EXIM and domestic containers under a hub-and-spoke model connecting cargo movements from JNPT to ICD Garhi via Ankleshwar.

This marks GDL’s entry into domestic rail services from Ankleshwar to North India, further expanding its integrated logistics network. The new route enhances connectivity between western and northern industrial hubs, improving efficiency and reducing transit time.

“There is tremendous potential to expand this service, and we are truly excited for what lies ahead,” said Samvid Gupta, Joint Managing Director, Gateway Distriparks. “This initiative reinforces our commitment to seamless, cost-effective, and sustainable logistics solutions across India.”

EXIM operations from Ankleshwar are expected to begin by the start of the next financial year, coinciding with the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) connectivity to Nhava Sheva. This is expected to significantly boost double-stack capabilities and enable faster, more efficient cargo movement between ports and industrial centres.
