The integrated agro-park at the IFFCO Kisan Special Economic Zone near Nellore has seen the laying of foundation stones for two manufacturing units involving a combined investment of Rs 8 billion. The development is expected to generate significant employment opportunities for local youth, particularly in the Kovur Assembly constituency.

Addressing a gathering at Buchireddypalem, Nellore Lok Sabha MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy said the projects mark the beginning of large-scale industrial activity at the 2,700-acre IFFCO Kisan SEZ. He thanked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for the recent Andhra Pradesh Cabinet decision approving the establishment of industries within the SEZ.

Prabhakar Reddy said Rs 85 million has been sanctioned for construction of the main access road to the SEZ, with work set to commence shortly. He also participated in a ground-breaking ceremony for the replacement of dilapidated structures at the cremation ground in Ward No. 12 of Buchireddypalem town, alongside MLA Vemireddy Prasanthi Reddy. The MP said Rs 2.5 million has been sanctioned from his MPLAD fund for construction of the new facility.

Speaking later, Prasanthi Reddy said she has been prioritising the provision of basic civic amenities across villages since becoming an MLA, with support from the MP, corporate social responsibility funds and MPLAD allocations. These initiatives include the development of a cremation ground on Isakapalem Road with a compound wall and essential facilities. She also directed officials to expedite completion of the Karmakrutula building currently under construction in the Gandhinagar area.

The event was attended by municipal commissioner D Balakrishna, municipal chairperson Morla Supraja, TDP senior leader Koduru Kamalakar Reddy, and representatives from the TDP, BJP and Jana Sena.
