Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, today launched Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) 2025 in New Delhi, coinciding with a decade of the Make in India initiative. LEADS 2025 benchmarks logistics performance across States and Union Territories, supporting India’s goal of a globally competitive and future-ready logistics ecosystem.
Shri Goyal highlighted India’s rapid rise as a manufacturing hub, with strong growth in pharmaceuticals and engineering goods, noting that efficient logistics is critical for reducing costs and enhancing competitiveness. He emphasised that the Government has consistently worked to improve logistics through initiatives such as the LEADS survey, which identifies best practices, highlights areas needing attention, and enables collaboration with states to strengthen supply chains.
This year’s LEADS survey introduces two major features: assessment of 5–7 key corridors based on journey time, truck speed, and waiting periods, and API-enabled evaluation of section-wise speeds on major road corridors. These innovations provide sharper insights to guide states and Union Territories in improving logistics efficiency.
Shri Goyal reaffirmed that LEADS 2025 will foster a cost-efficient and sustainable logistics system, furthering the objectives of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat by 2047.
