India Post Delivers First ONDC Logistics Order

The Department of Posts has achieved a key milestone by successfully booking and delivering its first online logistics order through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), marking its formal entry into the platform as a Logistics Service Provider (LSP).

The inaugural order was placed on 13 January 2026 by UdyamWell, an ONDC-enabled initiative dedicated to supporting grassroots entrepreneurs, including artisans, farmers and rural businesses. The parcel was successfully delivered on 15 January 2026, demonstrating the Department’s readiness to provide digitally integrated logistics services across the ONDC ecosystem.

With its integration into ONDC, India Post now enables sellers using ONDC-compatible buyer applications to select the Department for parcel pick-up, booking, transmission and delivery through its extensive nationwide postal infrastructure.

Currently, the Department is operational on ONDC under the “Click & Book” model. This allows sellers to digitally generate pick-up requests, choose India Post as their logistics partner and schedule doorstep collection. Postage charges are collected at the time of pick-up, while consignments are inducted into India Post’s network and tracked end-to-end using its technology-enabled logistics systems.

The move significantly enhances India Post’s role in India’s rapidly evolving digital commerce framework. Leveraging its deep rural penetration, trusted public service legacy and expanding digital capabilities, the Department’s onboarding as an ONDC LSP is expected to accelerate inclusive participation by MSMEs and small sellers, particularly from remote and underserved regions.
