Kanpur to get mega logistics park for cargo handling
Nanduri Srinivas, the DFCCIL's director of operations and business development, said, “In two years UP will have a multimodal logistics park, 20 km from Kanpur City near Rooma Railway Station. It would be the fourth logistical hub in the state for cargo movement--- the other three are in Dadri, including one developed by Container Corporation of India Limited and two to be developed by National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited and Adani Group.”
In the villages of Hathipur, Maharajpur, and Tilsaharibujurg in the Narval tehsil of Kanpur Nagar, DFCCIL has acquired 70 hectres of land. “After the construction of the hub, we expect that 15 million tonnes of goods will be handles annually,” said Srinivas. The 63-km, six-lane Lucknow-Kanpur Greenfield expressway is also anticipated to be finished by the middle of 2024.
Srinivas said, “Mega logistic hub will reduce the transportation cost giving competitive edge to Indian products. The logistic hub at Kanpur will also boost the UP government’s one district one product initiative.” The eastern DFC, which links Ludhiana to Sonnagar, includes the Kanpur Logistics Park.
