KSH Distriparks Opens Pune’s First Empty Container Yard

KSH Distriparks has inaugurated Pune’s first dedicated empty container yard, addressing a critical infrastructure gap in the region’s fast-growing manufacturing and export ecosystem.
Strategically located 8 km from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the 15-acre facility is designed to streamline empty container availability for importers, exporters, and logistics operators across Pune’s industrial belt.
The development targets a long-standing bottleneck in the Chakan–Talegaon corridor, where rising trade volumes have increased turnaround times due to the absence of a dedicated container handling ecosystem.
The yard integrates end-to-end container services including storage, washing, repair, and maintenance, along with parking for around 60 trailers and car carriers. It also houses a dedicated Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) centre for Completely Built Units (CBUs), enabling vehicle inspection, washing, loading, and lashing at a single location.
With a handling capacity of around 500 TEUs per day and up to 100,000 TEUs annually, the facility is expected to significantly improve container circulation efficiency in the region. KSH Distriparks also plans to deploy a Yard Management System (YMS) to enable real-time tracking and optimise yard operations.
Commenting on the launch, Malcolm D'Souza said the facility reflects the company’s focus on simplifying container movement and strengthening logistics infrastructure in Pune.
The development reinforces Pune’s emergence as a key EXIM and manufacturing hub, supported by strong connectivity, industrial growth, and increasing export activity.
