Maharashtra govt to invest Rs 6 trillion on state infrastructure
One of the upcoming projects is to build an expressway grid with 6–8 lanes that connects the state's districts. Nine new expressways are being developed, one of which will be the eight-lane Pune-Nashik Expressway. These nine expressways could cost as much as Rs 2.35 billion.
A six-lane expressway between Mumbai and the Konkan region, estimated to cost Rs 800 billion, is also being planned by The War Room. It will run from Pen in Panvel to Sawantwadi in Sindhudurg. According to those involved in the planning of the Mumbai-Konkan Expressway, the new expressways would be straight roadways cutting across all coastal districts in place of the current lengthy, twisting routes connecting Mumbai and Konkan.
