The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority has approved eight new logistics and warehousing projects with an estimated investment of Rs eight billion (Rs 8 bn). Under the Uttar Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022, investors are being encouraged to set up logistics and storage units on private land through incentives, financial assistance and tax exemptions, the authority said in a statement. The approvals form part of a broader effort to modernise state infrastructure and attract private sector participation and operational expertise.

The newly approved projects include five silos, two warehousing units and one logistics project to be established in districts such as Unnao, Auraiya, Balrampur, Shravasti, Sultanpur, Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Hapur. These projects will be developed on nearly 110 acres of land, strengthening the state’s agricultural and industrial supply chain, the authority added. The silos and modern storage units are expected to improve handling and reduce post harvest losses for key crops.

With this approval UPSIDA has now cleared a total of 61 projects under the Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 and the Program Implementation Plan policy, which will be developed over nearly 810 acres with a proposed investment exceeding Rs 129 billion (Rs 129 bn). They are expected to enhance safe storage capacity for foodgrains, provide better storage and logistics facilities to farmers and accelerate the development of multi modal logistics hubs, warehouse clusters and modern distribution centres, the authority noted. The planned hubs aim to integrate different elements of the supply chain to improve connectivity and operational efficiency.

Officials indicated the policy framework and fiscal incentives are intended to promote private investment in modern storage and distribution infrastructure and to improve market access for producers. The projects are intended to improve food security, reduce post harvest losses and support the growth of integrated transport and distribution networks across the state, strengthening resilience and efficiency in supply chains. The measures are also expected to support rural livelihoods by facilitating better prices and timely market linkage over time.
