The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority has approved eight new logistics and warehousing projects with an estimated investment of Rs eight billion (bn) under the state Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022. The authority said the moves form part of efforts to expand storage and distribution capacity across the state and to attract private investment through incentives. The policy encourages investors to establish logistics and storage units on private land with financial assistance and tax exemptions, the authority added.\n\nThe newly approved projects comprise five silos, two warehousing units and one logistics project, which are to be developed in districts including Unnao, Auraiya, Balrampur, Shravasti, Sultanpur, Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Hapur. The projects will be established on nearly 110 acres, which the authority said will strengthen the agricultural and industrial supply chain. The authority indicated that improved storage infrastructure is expected to reduce post harvest losses and facilitate more efficient movement of commodities.\n\nWith these approvals, the authority has cleared a total of 61 projects under the Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 and the Programme Implementation Plan policy, to be developed over nearly 810 acres. The cumulative proposed investment now exceeds Rs 129 bn and is intended to expand safe storage capacity for foodgrains and related commodities. Officials said the approvals will support the development of multi modal logistics hubs, warehouse clusters and modern distribution centres to benefit farmers and businesses.\n\nThe authority noted that the projects under the policy are expected to provide better storage and logistics facilities to farmers, encourage investments in storage technology and help integrate agricultural produce with markets. The approvals form part of a broader strategy to modernise supply chains across the state and to accelerate the growth of logistics infrastructure. The authority said implementation will proceed in accordance with applicable approvals and timelines and will be monitored to ensure the projects meet planned objectives.
