The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has approved eight new logistics and warehousing projects with an estimated investment of Rs 8,000 million (mn) under the Uttar Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022. The approval was announced as part of efforts to expand storage and supply chain capacity across the state. The projects form part of a wider push to attract private investment into logistics infrastructure.

The newly approved projects comprise five silos, two warehousing units and one logistics project to be established in Unnao, Auraiya, Balrampur, Shravasti, Sultanpur, Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Hapur. They are slated to be developed on nearly 110 acres of land and are intended to strengthen the state agricultural and industrial supply chain. UPSIDA noted that the placements reflect a mix of storage and distribution requirements for the region.

With these approvals, UPSIDA has now cleared a total of 61 projects under the Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 and the Programme Implementation Plan policy, which will be developed over nearly 810 acres. The combined proposed investment across those projects exceeds Rs 129 billion (bn), reflecting sustained interest from private investors. The authority said the projects aim to increase safe storage capacity for foodgrains and support modern logistics solutions.

Under the policy, investors are being encouraged to set up logistics and storage units on private land through incentives, financial assistance and tax exemptions to promote private sector participation. Authorities expect the new projects to accelerate the development of multi-modal logistics hubs, warehouse clusters and modern distribution centres and to provide better storage and logistics facilities to farmers. The approvals are intended to contribute to the state agenda of building resilient supply chains and improving market access for agricultural produce.
