In the previous year, Pune Municipal Corporation shipped 16,714 tankers to various stakeholders, providing 16 crore litres of treated sewage water for construction works. The water has been examined and is OK for this use. Last year, the solid waste department gave instructions to builders and contractors to utilise treated sewage water. Aniruddha Pawaskar, the chief superintendent engineer of the water supply division, claimed that 25 persons had been penalised for using potable water for things like vehicle washing.

The landscaping department and contractors who build roads and buildings were among the groups advised by the solid waste department to utilise treated sewage water last year. "Last year, PMC had issued a circular and instructed all contractors, garden department officials, and builders to use treated sewage water for construction activities," said Pramod Unde, executive engineer, solid waste management department. The horticultural department's employees already use cleaned sewage water. In addition, this water is used by builders. The water has undergone standard testing and is suitable for this use.

The Naidu Hospital (near the Pune station), Baner, Bopodi, Mundhwa, Kharadi, Vittalwadi (Sinhagad Road), Erandwane, and Bhairoba Nala (Hadapsar) are among the locations of our sewage treatment plants. We have given 16,714 tankers to various parties as of yet. The Kharadi sewage treatment plant supplied the most tankers out of that total. According to statistics, more than 150 tankers are sent out from Kharadi each week," he stated.

The use of treated sewage water received positive feedback, according to Aniruddha Pawaskar, chief superintendent engineer for the water supply department. Additionally, we have taken legal action against 25 persons for utilising drinking water for other purposes, such as car washing.
