The mayor of the municipal corporation said Bhalswa and Okhla landfills will be flattened this year and that Ghazipur is scheduled to be levelled by the end of 2027. He stated the civic body was acting in accordance with Supreme Court directions on stray animals and was prioritising sterilisation drives and anti-rabies vaccination. He added that sterilisation is being carried out every day and that the situation has improved considerably.

He said free anti-rabies vaccination is available at several municipal corporation hospitals and cited arrangements at Swami Dayanand Hospital while work on modern dog shelters and a proposed kennel in Dwarka is under way. On monsoon preparedness he said around 70 per cent of drain desilting under the corporation has been completed. He noted that modern machines have removed hundreds of thousands of tonnes of silt from drains and that efforts to clean smaller channels continue.

He announced a cow dung based biogas plant was expected to begin operations by July and that strict instructions had been issued to start the project within that month. The plant will process 200 tonnes (200 t) of cow dung to generate gas and is intended to reduce waste entering drains and ease desilting. He commented that such projects form part of broader waste management measures to improve drain maintenance.

He acknowledged complaints about delayed textbooks for classes four and five and said books would reach all pupils before the end of the summer holidays while uniform assistance funds have been transferred directly to parents. He instructed officials to improve conditions for sanitation workers and ensure adequate equipment and predicted further visible progress. On an estimated fiscal deficit of around Rs 150 billion (Rs 150 bn) he said the corporation will focus on increasing revenue through parking fees, house tax and property tax collections and on plugging leakages. He urged residents to segregate waste and pay taxes regularly and said improving health services, sanitation and cleanliness remain immediate priorities as the city seeks to break into the top ten in national cleanliness rankings with government support.
