Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has inaugurated the Nashik Municipal Corporation’s 274 MLD Vilholi Water Treatment Plant (WTP) along with the augmented Mukane water supply scheme. Developed at a cost of Rs 3.7 billion, the project will deliver reliable and safe water to more than 55 lakh residents and support over 1 crore visitors expected during the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela.

The upgraded system will ensure year-round availability, improve resilience during peak tourist seasons and benefit local employment and tourism-related businesses. Partly funded through Rs 2 billion in Green Sustainable Bonds, the initiative reflects Nashik’s focus on sustainable and self-reliant urban infrastructure.

Under the Chief Minister’s guidance, the Vilholi WTP and Mukane scheme form a major step towards making Nashik a smart, water-secure city. The infrastructure is expected to be fully ready before the 2027 Kumbh Mela to ensure uninterrupted supply during the event.
