Delhi Jal Board to Assess 7,000 Rainwater Harvesting Systems
The rainwater harvesting systems, installed in both residential and commercial establishments, are crucial for replenishing groundwater levels and reducing dependence on external water sources. DJB officials have emphasised the importance of maintaining and optimising these systems to ensure they are functioning at their full potential.
The assessment will cover various aspects of the harvesting systems, including their design, installation, and current operational status. The DJB intends to identify any deficiencies or malfunctions that may hinder the systems' performance and take corrective measures. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable water management practices in Delhi.
In addition to evaluating existing systems, the DJB is also encouraging more residents and businesses to adopt rainwater harvesting as a viable solution to water shortages. The board plans to conduct awareness campaigns to educate the public on the benefits of rainwater harvesting and provide technical support for new installations.
The DJB?s assessment initiative reflects the growing recognition of the need for sustainable water management solutions in urban areas. As Delhi continues to face challenges related to water scarcity and population growth, effective rainwater harvesting could play a significant role in addressing these issues.
Through this extensive evaluation, the DJB aims to enhance the city's water security and promote long-term environmental sustainability.
