Digital Platforms Boost Transparency In Jal Jeevan Mission
To ensure transparency, data accuracy and real-time monitoring, the Department has developed the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) digital portal and mobile app for JJM. These platforms operate at Panchayat, District Water and Sanitation Mission, State Water and Sanitation Mission and National levels, enabling detailed tracking of physical and financial progress, service delivery parameters and asset functionality across the country.
Similarly, the Department has also created the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Portal and Dashboard, which monitor progress from village to national level under SBM(G). The portal includes online applications for Individual Household Latrines, allowing citizens to apply for incentives and monitor the status of their applications. The dashboard records nationwide progress on indicators such as ODF Plus status, IHHL and Community Sanitary Complex construction, solid and liquid waste management, IEC activities and capacity building.
Two mobile applications have been developed under SBM(G): • mSBM, for geo-tagging Individual Household Latrines. • SBM 2.0, for geo-tagging solid and liquid waste management assets, including community sanitary complexes, along with reporting progress.
To improve field-level reporting under JJM, a dedicated Field User App captures geo-coordinates and photographs of assets. Data from JJM IMIS has also been integrated with the PM Gati Shakti National Monitoring Portal to enable synchronised reporting.
For water quality monitoring, an online Water Quality Management Information System (WQMIS) portal has been introduced to support States and UTs in reporting water sample test results, surveillance data and sample collection status. State-wise test reports submitted through WQMIS are available in the public domain.
A 'Citizen Corner' on the JJM Dashboard displays village-level information on rural piped water schemes, assets and water quality. Comparable data is also accessible to citizens through the MeriPanchayat app of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
The information was provided by the Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Shri V. Somanna, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
