G Kishan Reddy to Join Swachhata Hi Seva Drive

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy will participate in a collective voluntary cleanliness activity under the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, on October 1. The Ministry of Mines is organising the one-hour activity, which will bring together officials, employees and sanitation workers.

Reddy will join the participants in cleaning activities and interact with personnel responsible for maintaining the public space. The programme is intended to promote public participation, dignity of work and collective responsibility for maintaining a cleaner and greener environment.

As part of its wider campaign, the Ministry of Mines has adopted a park at GPOA-3, Netaji Nagar, for landscaping, beautification and improvement. The initiative aims to develop the site into a cleaner and better-maintained public area while encouraging sustainable practices and greater community ownership of shared spaces.

Reddy will also inaugurate an e-waste collection stall at GPOA-3. The facility will accept discarded electronic and electrical items from officials and employees and promote segregation, collection and authorised recycling. The collection drive will run from October 2 to October 31, with the material sent for appropriate recycling and scientific processing through authorised channels.

The ministry said the initiative would highlight the resource value of e-waste, including its potential to support the recovery of critical minerals and other valuable materials. Recovering these materials can improve resource efficiency, reduce reliance on virgin resources and support circular economy principles. The campaign forms part of the ministry’s broader work on responsible resource utilisation, waste management, environmental sustainability and recovery of critical minerals from secondary sources, with activities at Yashwant Place and GPOA-3 intended to reinforce cleanliness as a sustained collective effort.
