Godrej Earns Water Positive Certification

Godrej Enterprises Group has been certified Water Positive by TÜV India following a rigorous third-party audit covering all 25 of its manufacturing plants across India. With a Water Positive Index of 1.87, the company replenishes 1.87 litres of water for every litre consumed through within-fence initiatives—underscoring its leadership in regenerative and responsible manufacturing.

TÜV India’s certification, based on its globally aligned Water Positive Scoring Framework, validates that Godrej’s water stewardship practices create measurable positive impact beyond regulatory compliance. The assessment included detailed verification of water accounting, recharge and recycling systems, consumption patterns, and site-level monitoring and quality controls.

Tejashree Joshi, Head – Environmental Sustainability, Godrej Enterprises Group, said, “Achieving Water Positive certification across all our plants is a proud validation of our commitment to regenerative growth. Our effort goes beyond reducing impact—we aim to restore more water than we use. TÜV India’s independent verification reinforces the scientific rigour, transparency, and measurable outcomes behind our work. This milestone reflects our resolve to build water-secure communities and drive a sustainable future for India.”

Water stewardship is a cornerstone of Godrej’s sustainability vision and supports India’s broader climate resilience goals. The company’s initiatives—including rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and wastewater recycling—have enabled an estimated 40% reduction in total water use.

At its Vikhroli campus alone, rainwater harvesting systems can recharge over 4,25,000 cubic metres of water annually. In the past year, the Group replenished and reused more than 2.02 billion litres of water across its sites—a result of sustained efforts built over 15 years.

As water scarcity intensifies nationwide, Godrej Enterprises Group’s Water Positive certification highlights its proactive approach to sustainable industrial growth. The TÜV India verification further strengthens the company’s commitment to transparency, accountability and nation-building through responsible engineering.
