To tackle rising electronic waste in the city, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) will appoint professional agencies to manage collection, transport, processing, and disposal of e-waste across all sectors of Greater Noida.

With a population of around 1 million, the city is generating growing volumes of e-waste, posing both environmental and health risks due to improper handling. Under the proposed initiative, authorised agencies will collect e-waste from households, institutions, businesses, and industrial areas, providing doorstep pickup services.

Agencies must also set up designated collection points, maintain records, and deploy IT systems including CCTV monitoring, digital weighing, and tracking software. Only CPCB-authorised recyclers will be allowed to process the collected waste. Agencies are required to issue written acknowledgments to waste providers at pickup, including details of the waste and any compensation given.

A monthly report must be submitted to GNIDA outlining the volume of waste processed and the technologies used. Each agency must also establish a helpline and call centre for residents and RWAs to schedule pickups, which must be completed within three days. Delays beyond the deadline will invite penalties of Rs 2,000 per day.

The project will receive no financial aid from GNIDA, and agencies must operate independently, sustaining themselves through partnerships or resale of recovered materials under Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Selected firms will initially be granted one-year contracts, renewable based on performance.

GNIDA has issued an Expression of Interest (EoI), inviting applications from CPCB-registered firms, NGOs, and organisations. The EoI was released on April 29, with the submission deadline set for May 19.
