Larsen & Toubro’s Water & Effluent Treatment (WET) division has secured major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts from the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) of Rajasthan, further reinforcing its role in large-scale rural infrastructure development.
One of the key projects awarded is for Phase II, Package-1 of the Rajasthan Rural Water Supply and Fluorosis Mitigation Project. The contract includes the supply and installation of a 5,251-kilometre-long network of transmission and distribution pipelines. Additionally, the scope covers the construction of 38 ground-level reservoirs totalling 40 million litres (ML), 132 overhead service reservoirs with a combined capacity of 25 ML, and 20 pump houses.
This project will ensure reliable water supply for 285 villages and the towns of Surajgarh and Udaipurwati in Jhunjhunu district, aiming to address both quantity and quality challenges, especially in areas affected by fluorosis.
L&T has also won a separate contract for strengthening and rehabilitating the water supply system along the Kekri–Sarwar sector in Ajmer district. This work involves the supply and installation of 43 kilometres of transmission pipelines.
Both contracts include associated electromechanical, instrumentation, automation and SCADA works, a one-year defect liability period, and a 10-year operations and maintenance commitment — underlining the company’s end-to-end project execution capabilities.
These repeat orders bring L&T’s tally of completed or ongoing water supply projects in Rajasthan to 24, highlighting the company’s consistent contribution to enhancing the state’s water infrastructure.
