SCB Approves Garbage Transport Tender And Records Digitisation
The chief executive officer said that on average 220 metric tonnes (t) of waste is generated in a day in the cantonment area and that the new contract aims to streamline collection and reduce operational burden on the board. The tender covers lifting from designated collection points and final disposal at the authorised dumping site. Officials indicated that compliance and periodic reporting will be included in the service level agreement.
The board also approved a project to scan and digitise approximately 20,000 files, comprising 5,300 building plans, 12,800 assessment and mutation files and about 2,000 miscellaneous records, updating records that were last digitised in 2015. The digitisation drive is intended to improve records management, ease public access to documents and support faster revenue transactions. Authorities said that the exercise will follow data security protocols and indexing standards to ensure retrievability. The selected agency will be responsible for end to end scanning, metadata tagging and quality checks.
The board cleared aerial cabling works spanning two point two eight km for installation of 54 poles as part of telecom infrastructure development, subject to directions from the Ministry of Defence. The works are to be coordinated with utility providers and executed in phases to minimise disruption. Before the meeting, Banuka Narmada took oath after receiving an extension as a cantonment board civilian nominated member for one year.
