Schneider Electric to Automate Bhandup Water Plant

Schneider Electric has been awarded the contract to automate Mumbai’s Bhandup water treatment plant, which processes 2000 MLD of water daily. This project supports the Maharashtra government’s goal to provide potable water to 22 million residents.

Schneider Electric will deploy its EcoStruxure solutions, including the EcoStruxure Process Expert M580-EPA platform, Altivar Process Drives, PRISMA LV panel boards, and various power and automation equipment.

Deepak Sharma, MD & CEO of Schneider Electric India, emphasized that automation is crucial for tackling India’s water challenges and ensuring sustainability. The upgraded Bhandup facility will be part of India’s largest water treatment complex, with a total capacity of 4500 MLD.

Welspun Enterprises CEO Yogen Lal highlighted the project’s role in improving operational efficiency and revolutionizing water accessibility in Mumbai.
