Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to inaugurate three major projects worth Rs 8.86 billion to strengthen Hyderabad’s drinking water supply and rejuvenate the Musi River.

The Godavari Drinking Water Scheme, Phases 2 and 3, implemented at a cost of Rs 7.36 billion, will draw 20,000 TMC of water from the Mallanna Sagar Reservoir. Of this, 2.5 TMC will be allocated for Musi River rejuvenation through Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar, with seven intermediate lakes along the route also being replenished. The remaining 17.5 TMC will cater to Hyderabad’s drinking water requirements. The project, executed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), is expected to be completed within two years.

Additionally, a Rs 1.2 billion project will see the inauguration of 15 reservoirs out of a total of 71. The initiative will cover areas including Saroor Nagar, Maheshwaram, Shamshabad, Hayathnagar, Ibrahimpatnam, Ghatkesar, Keesara, Rajendranagar, Shamirpet, Medchal, Qutbullapur, RC Puram, Patancheru, and Bolarum. Once complete, it is expected to serve the drinking water needs of 2.5 million residents across 14 mandals in Telangana.

Lastly, CM Revanth will lay the foundation for the Kokapet Layout Development Project, valued at Rs 298 million. This project will provide drinking water and sewage systems to Kokapet Layout, Neo Polis, and the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), benefiting approximately 1.3 million Hyderabadis and scheduled for completion within two years.
